CREATING AN API DATASTREAM AND CONNECTION
Start by going to the 'Connect' Element.
In the Connect Overview, click on '+Add new Datastream' in the top-right hand corner.
From the list, pick a Datastream type matching an API data source that you currently use, and wish to connect to Datatap..
The left side of the screen shows the Datastream progress tracker, which can be used to jump back in the process if necessary to review / alter anything.
As you don't have a connection to authorize transfer to and from your data source, you'll need to create one now.
You will be taken to the next screen to create a connection, and prompted to enter your account login details for the relevant data source account. Your credentials will not be stored in Adverity systems.
Note: Wherever possible, we utilize OAuth2 to authorize credentials, but if your datasource does not support it then you will be requested to directly enter account and password information.
Once your connection has been authorized, you can select from one of our pre-configured Report Templates. Each Report Template is designed to fulfill typical use cases across all of our Datastreams, just pick the one most suitable for your desired result.
After your configuration has been set, you will be prompted to run your initial fetch, retrieving data from the source for the first time. You can skip this step and return straight to the overview, but let's populate your Workspace with some data.
a. Set the date range for your initial fetch.
b. Click 'Run Fetch'.
You'll be returned to the Datastream Overview page, which will:
a. Display a confirmation message that your fetch has begun.
b. Show the results being gathered as extracts.

You just configured and authorized Datatap to access one of your external data resources, allowing the programs to talk to each other. The next step is either:
