Many connections, once authorized, will stay authorized indefinitely, but it's possible that authorization can expire or otherwise be rendered inoperable and require refreshing. Examples of this include some connections (such as LinkedIn) where OAUTH requires periodic renewal, or accidental revocation of rights due to user error.
